I’m a geek. I really really love Star Wars, and I love a whole lot of science fiction and fantasy too.

When I was a kid, I was often lost in imaginary worlds. I read a lot of Christopher Pike in high school. My favorite books were the Chronicles of Narnia series.

I still love fantasy novels. One of my favorite fantasy series is the Black Jewels trilogy, by Anne Bishop. I keep promising myself that I’m going to read more Terry Pratchett, because Death is so entertaining and I love Tiffany Aching.

I really enjoy young adult literature. I find myself entertained by Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series, though I have yet to read the latest book. The Hunger Games–both the books and the movies–resonate with me very strongly.

Oneal and I watch a LOT of TV shows, and many of them have some sci-fi or fantasy in them. Battlestar Galactica remains one of our favorites, along with Supernatural, Doctor Who, Penny Dreadful, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Star Wars: Rebels.

Like many people, we really love the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I don’t really read comic books, but the movies and the TV shows are so entertaining and I’m really hooked! Oneal and I have this thing called Bedtime Comic Book Storytelling: I ask about a particular character or story arc, and he gives me the Cliff’s Notes, explaining how it’s going to play out in the movie or TV show.

Obviously, one of the ways we show off our geek selves is through our costuming. I’ll come up with individual posts about our costumes, because each costume is a journey, and there are just too many pictures to fit in a single entry. 😀

What are you geeky about?

I’m kinda the same way on the Marvel Universe with my wife. I used to read comics when I was a kid so I’m the one that goes “Oh that person is going to pop up again” or “that’s who they are,” or “remember him from that?” Same with Star Trek and Star Wars.

And does your wife also go, “Well that doesn’t make sense!” or “What the hell is that??” when you tell her about the characters? One time Oneal told me about The Beyonder, and I just couldn’t get over that name!
