The moment Star Wars: The Force Awakens was announced, we knew we would be busy with events. The months leading up to the movie release in December would be just insane. A dear friend asked us, “When do your December activities start?” Oneal and I replied in unison, “September.”
Force Friday
Disney decided on a global event to launch the first wave of Star Wars toys. They called it Force Friday. Every country where they launched the toys had a big black “box” where the toys were hidden. When the clock struck 12, the curtain dropped, and the new toys were revealed!
Here in Manila the event was held in SM Mall of Asia. We didn’t buy any toys, because we don’t really collect anymore. But we got a free stormtrooper notebook!
And I wrote about the event for ABS-CBN and Rappler!
Toys R Us events
For the launch of the new Star Wars toys, Toys R Us asked us to troop at different branches. We made appearances all over Metro Manila: Power Plant Mall and Glorietta in Makati, Trinoma in Quezon City, Robinson’s Ermita in Manila, I can’t even remember where else!
Oneal and I trooped in Power Plant Mall and Robinson’s Place Ermita.
Asia Pop Comic Con
For the first time, a big international convention happened in Manila! The very first Asia Pop Comic Con took place this month, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. International guests came over: Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei from A Game of Thrones), Colton Haynes (Roy Harper from Arrow), Paul Bettany (JARVIS/The Vision from Avengers: Age of Ultron), and many international artists and cosplayers. It was pretty huge, and incredibly tiring!
As usual, we did the opening ceremonies and got a booth in exchange. We were there for all days of the convention! No surprise, we got sick afterwards. 😛 It was fun though!
Botchok’s emergency
I didn’t want to admit it at the time, but this was the beginning of my cat’s decline. I wrote about it here.
I think the last quarter of 2015 was incredibly stressful and exhausting for me because Botchok’s ill health coincided with all the Star Wars events we had to organize and attend. There was Halloween, my birthday, Mommy’s birthday and Christmas coming up too. I can handle a lot of stress, but this was just too much.
