Because of MP-KNN, I got invited to quite a lot of speaking engagements! Our experience was unique and our work apparently impressive, and other NGOs wanted to know how we did it, and what the pros and cons were. I got invited to talk about how NGOs can use social media for advocacy work, how young people can benefit from using social media, and how to use social media responsibly.

January 2013: AFPPD Coordinative Planning Meeting

This was my very first invitation to speak on social media and advocacy! I was very very nervous, but my talk was quite well-received! Friends from the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development referred me to the Asian Forum for Parliamentarians on Population and Development, who asked me to give a talk at their planning meeting in Phuket, Thailand. Despite the anxiety and nerves, it was a nice trip because I got to stay at the Crown Regency Panwa Beach Resort!

February 2013: Commission On Population Training: Indonesia-Philippines Strategic Approaches In Mainstreaming Adolescent-Youth Reproductive Health (IPH-SAMA)

The Commission on Population and United Nations Population Fund held a training workshop for advocacy partners from Indonesia. I gave a two-part talk with Hanna Jaber, who was the MP-KNN Community Manager at the time. We talked about Social Media and Advocacy at the Bay Leaf Hotel, in Intramuros, Manila.

June 2013: PLCPD Advocacy Training For Inter-Church Organization For Development And Cooperation (ICCO)

The Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development invited me to be a Resource Speaker on Communicating with General Public Using Social Media. The training workshop was organized by PLCPD for their partners at the Inter-Church Organization For Development And Cooperation. It was my first time at Hotel Kimberly in Tagaytay!

July 2013: AFPPD Communications Workshop On ICPD Beyond 2014/Post-2015 Agenda

AFPPD wanted me back! They asked me to be a Resource Speaker on Social and Citizen Media. Their Communications Workshop took place at the lovely Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay.

June 2014: Kabataang Technoy Tungo Sa Pag-Unlad

The National ICT Competency Management Division (NICM) of the Information and Communications Technology Office, Department of Science and Technology, invited me to be a Resource Speaker on “Youth Participation Through Social Media” in UP Diliman, Quezon City. I spoke in front of a room of high school students!

2015: MP-KNN Social NetWorth Youth Forums

Part of our activities for the final project period of MP-KNN were youth forums in four universities around the Philippines. I spoke about how young people can use social media responsibly, at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, Laguna, Silliman University in Dumaguete, University of Mindanao in Davao, and Northwestern University in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

December 2015: Ako Para Sa Bata Conference 2015

The MP-KNN team has been attending the Child Protection Network’s APSB conference for quite a few years. One year, Dr. Emma Llanto asked me to moderate a symposium, on romantic relationships among the youth. For the most recent conference, she asked me to speak at the lunch symposium, about the positive impact of social media on the youth.
