Quarantummy: Super Simple Salmon

First of all, a disclaimer: that’s a stock photo! I wish my cooking looked as good.

Now, I love salmon. Be it grilled or fried, sashimi or steak, I love the flavor and the smell and the taste. I love how you don’t have to do much to make it awesome.

My default preparation for salmon is lemon and butter, fried or oven-baked. It works with rice or pasta, and can be mixed with cream and spinach if you’re feeling fancy.

Last week though, I decided to try something different. I had finally gotten some mirin from the grocery, and so I threw together a few ingredients for a quick meal.

Ingredients

  • Salmon belly: It’s one of those things I always have in the freezer.
  • Mirin
  • Soy sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Pepper

Procedure

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, making sure the salmon pieces are about half submerged in the marinade. Let it sit for maybe 5 minutes.
  2. Fry! I used an air fryer, but I think this would be delicious if fried in butter.
  3. Serve with hot rice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if you’re feeling fancy.

Enjoy!

A delicious take on salmon! Reminds me of the teriyaki salmon from UCC Clockwork, actually.
