There’s so much more to Thai food than pad thai and tom yum.

We had a lovely variety of noodles! Top left: some beef noodle that we ate at IconSiam. Bottom left: the nice wonton noodle soup that Lucas and I had at Wat Arun. Right: Hotpot! Lucas loved it.

Of course, we had to have authentic pad thai (above). One of the things I learned in Bangkok is that you can use pretty much any kind of noodle for pad thai: from thin vermicelli types to wide and flat noodles. It seems like it’s all the other ingredients that are important.
Lucas’ favorite: Thai iced tea.

And there were some more traditional things, like fresh spring rolls and crispy fried chicken.

I got to try some new things too!

Above, first and second photos: I can’t remember what it’s called, but it’s like a crepe with a very sticky white paste and a sweet filling. I’m so glad I only got one of each because they were overwhelmingly sweet! Last photo: mussels!

Above: One of the things Lucas enjoyed most about Bangkok was our hotel breakfasts. I liked to joke that we were having traditional Thai food for breakfast, haha! To be honest, the breakfast buffet at our hotel wasn’t much to look at, but it wasn’t bad at all.
And the best part: shopping for more food to cook at home!
