A Month in Bangladesh: Bunnies, blooms, Buffy, and a bird
One of my favorite TV shows of all time is Buffy: the Vampire Slayer. Every time I see a bunny, I always start singing:
Bunnies aren’t just cute like everybody supposes! They’ve got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses!
And what’s with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway? Bunnies, bunnies! It must be bunnies!
– Anya, “Once More With Feeling”, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
So you can imagine what happened when I went to the staff house in Ukhiya, and I saw these cute little fluffballs.
The bunnies–named Pancho and Luna–are both male, and are the permanent residents of this staff house, where our international mobile staff live. It’s a simple house, but there’s a large yard where the bunnies happily hop about as they please.
Apparently they love to nibble on flowers, which may be why there are such pretty blooms in the yard.
I don’t know if those blooms are also delicious to birds, but I had a visitor outside my window one morning. Perhaps they like looking at the pretty colors, as I do.
In the yard behind our house, there are goats and chickens too, but I haven’t managed to make friends with them yet. I’ve met some cats, but that’s another story.
