Most of the time, I start writing for a publication because I’m introduced to the editor by a friend. This might sound like I’m endorsing the “it’s who you know” school of getting published. But the truth is I am often referred to editors because they need a writer for a specific subject. In other words, they need a writer who’s a geek!
In the case of ABS-CBN, my friend Anna introduced me to the editor, Vladimir Bunoan, because they needed someone to write about Star Wars. Who else was she gonna call?
Writing about geek events, especially Star Wars events, seems to be my niche, as you can see below.
